The Year of Yoga Worldwide
When an Island celebrates Yoga, even Continents join in !
The Art of Living Foundation in Sri Lanka is all set to make the art of living on an island - a refreshingly new experience. The charity Foundation is to celebrate the period December 2011 - December 2012 as the Year of Yoga Worldwide while also inviting Art of Living centres continent-wide to tune-in for more health and happiness.
A full year dedicated to heighten awareness and deliver the direct experience of yoga as a life-supporting science. The Year of Yoga Worldwide is a handsome tribute from Sri Lanka to commemorate the 30 years of Art of Living`s humanitarian service lead by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
The World Culture Festival held in Berlin on July 2nd 2011 heard Sri Sri Ravi Shankar say “ Whatever the circumstances are, we will continue to serve the world as one human family with differences. It is time to celebrate the differences and celebrate life on this planet. With all the volunteers, we are sure we can create a stress-free, violence-free society for our children ”. The Year of Yoga Worldwide is inspired by this very vision.
For 30 years now, the Art of Living has been in the forefront of delivering the best of yoga programs and humanitarian service initiatives reaching out to over 30 million in over 140 countries.
The Year of Yoga Worldwide will include educational exhibitions, town-hall workshops, awareness camps, lec-dem`s (lecture cum yoga demonstrations), presentations of yoga case studies, fact – sheets, research findings. Campaigns on healthy food, lifestyle and habits, women and childrens` health, spiritual wisdom, environment and ayurveda are also to be showcased in several countries to mark the year.
The theme of the Year of Yoga Worldwide is also expected to cater to the needs of several people across continents including families below the poverty-line, rural youth, internally displaced people, refugees and prison inmates, students, police, armed forces, corporate executives, sports persons and persons with health conditions like diabetes, asthma, migraine, obesity, chronic conditions and many other health imbalances.
Several international health organizations and health brands are also expected to come together to endorse the status of yoga as a life-supporting science. Impetus to research and development initiatives on yoga and breathing techniques will also find high emphasis in the calendar of events.
Moreover, yoga beginners and enthusiasts will get to experience the paths of yoga at the Spring- Summer and Autumn - Winter Yoga Festival scheduled during the year in several regions. Some of the unique programs in the Festival include Sri Sri Natya – Yoga with dance, Yoga and Meditation, Food for Yogis, Laughter Yoga (Hasya Yoga), Subtle Yoga (Sukshma Yoga), Yoga and Ayurveda, Yoga and breath, Yoga for women, Yoga and creativity and exclusive yoga modules for various health imbalances and conditions.
The life-supporting science of yoga as delivered by the Art of Living yoga nourishes the very root and basis of human life – the prana (in the Indian language Sanskrit - the subtle life source energy) to promote health. Unique and effective breathing techniques like the Sudarshan Kriya, Kanishta Pranayama and Padmasadhana are just some of the many offerings that people will get to experience in the World Yoga Festival and the innumerable events scheduled in the Year of Yoga Worldwide.

The city of Berlin ,which broke the wall of division and united together, Witnessed another great union of Humanity beyond religions,races,culture under the shadow of our Great Master,to prove His words " One Divinity ,One Humanity, Celebrating Diversity " .
Myself and my wife Anitha also witnessed the Great Confluence at the Berlin Olympic stadium on 2nd July with Grace of Poojya Gurudev. It was a proud moment for me to be apart of the delegation from 150 countries .
We felt in deep gratitude to our Master for inspiring us with the Glories of Art of Living for the establishment of Vyakti vikas of our self and goodwill of the world and for the removal of the wall of differences in the Vasudeiva Kudumbakam.

இது வெறும் நிகழ்வாக மட்டும் அல்லாமல் , இந்தியாவக்கு மிகவும் ஒரு பெருமை சேர்க்க கூடிய விஷயமாக இருக்கும். இங்கு அமைக்கப்பட உள்ள யோகா பூங்காவிற்கு வருபவர்களுக்கு உடல் மற்றும் மன ஆரோக்கியம் , உள் அமைதி ஆகியவற்றிற்கு யோகா எவ்வாறு பயன் படுகிறது என்பதையும் உலகில் அமைதியை நிலை நாட்டவதிலும் , சமூக பணிகளுகளிலும் யோகா எவ்வாறு செயல் படுத்தபடுகிறது என்பதையும் விளக்கம் தரப்பட இருக்கிறது.
சமீபகாலங்களில் யோகா , பிராணாயாமம் மற்றும் தியானம் ஆகிவற்றிற்கு உலகளவில் கிடைத்திருக்கும் இந்த முக்கியவத்துவம் , உலக நாடுகள் இந்திய ஆன்மீகத்தை ஏற்று கொண்டு அதை முன் எடுத்து செல்ல தயாராக இருக்கிறது என்பதை உறுதி படுத்துகிறது. இந்த மாற்றத்தை உலக கலாச்சார திருவிழா பிரதிபலிக்கும் விதமாக அமையும்.

ஜெர்மன் நாட்டின் பெர்லின் நகரில் "உலக கலாச்சார திருவிழா" என்ற பிரம்மாண்டமான நிகழ்ச்சியை நடத்துகிறார்கடந்த பல வாரங்களாக நடைபெற்று கொண்டிருக்கும் நிகழ்வுகளால் , இந்தியாவின் கெளரவம் தகர்ந்து கொண்டிருக்கும் பொழுது , இந்தியாவால் ஊழலும் வறுமையும் மட்டும் இல்லை , மேலும் பல நல்ல விஷயங்களை இந்த உலகத்திற்கு தரமுடியும் என்பதை உணர்த்தும் விதமாக பல நல்ல நிகழ்வுகள் நடக்க இருகின்றன. அத்தகைய பேரு நிகழ்வு தான் ஆன்மீக குரு ஸ்ரீ ஸ்ரீ ரவிசங்கர் அவர்களின் வாழும் கலை அமைப்பின் 30 வது ஆண்டு விழா. பெர்லின் நகரில் நடக்க இருக்கும் உலக கலாச்சார திருவிழாவில் உலகின் 151 நாடுகளிலிருந்து சுமார் ஒரு இலட்சம் மக்கள் கலந்து கொண்டு இந்திய ஆன்மீகத்தின் மூலமாக ஒரு மறக்க முடியாத அனுபவத்தை பெற இருக்கிறார்கள். பெர்லினின் ஒலிம்பியா ஸ்டேடியன் நடக்க போகும் ஐந்தே இரண்டு நாள் உலக கலாச்சார திருவிழா நிகழ்வில் பல நாடுகளின் கலைநிகழ்ச்சிகள் நடைபெற்றாலும், அனைவரின் கண்களை கவர இருப்பது , பலதரப்பட்ட மக்களை ஒன்றிணைக்கும் இந்தியாவின் ஆன்மீக சக்தியாகும்.
பல கண்டங்களிருந்து , பல மதங்களிலிருந்து, பல பண்பாடுகளிலிருந்து மற்றும் பல்வேறு பின்னணி உடைய சுமார் 70000 பேர் ஒரே இடத்தில அமர்ந்து உலக அமைதிகாக தியானம் செய்ய போகும் நிகழ்ச்சி ஒரு அற்புதமான , கண்கொள்ளா காட்சியாகும். இந்த சில நிமிட நிசப்தமான அமைதியால் , ஹிட்லர் , லேடன் போன்றோரால் உருவாக்கப்பட்ட பிரிவினைகள் அழிக்கப்பட இருக்கிறது.
இத்திருவிழா பல நாட்டு மக்களை ஒன்றிணைக்கும் நிகழ்வோடு மட்டுமல்லாமல் , இந்தியாவின் பெருமையான விஷயங்களுக்கு முக்கியத்துவம் கொடுப்பதாக அமையும். மேற்கத்திய நாடுகள் இந்தியாவை பற்றி பல காலமாக வைத்திருக்கும் பிம்பத்தை உடைத்தெறிந்து, இந்தியா, உலகையே அதிர செய்யும் ஒரு செழிப்பான நாடு என்று பறை சாற்றும் விதமாக , யோகா பூங்கா , யோகாவின் தோற்றத்தை பிரதிபலிக்கும் யோகா அருங்காட்சியகம் , இசையோடு கூடிய சூரிய நமஸ்காரம் , தொன்மையான சமஸ்க்ருத மந்திர உச்சரிப்போடு கூடிய பாரம்பரிய இந்திய ராகங்கள் மற்றும் தமிழ் கலைஞ்சர்களின் நாதஸ்வரம், தவில் போன்ற இந்தியாவின் அறிய பொக்கிஷங்களையும் வெளிபடுத்தும் விதமாகவும் இது அமையும்.
இதுவே ஸ்ரீ ஸ்ரீ ரவிசங்கர் அவர்கள் வாழும் கலையின் 30 வது விழாவை பெர்லின் நகரில் நடத்த காரணமாக இருப்பதாக தெரிகிறது. கடந்த பல வருடங்களாக ஸ்ரீ ஸ்ரீ அவர்கள் , இந்தியாவின் தொன்மையான ஞானத்தை , மிக எளிதான முறையில் கற்று கொடுபதற்கு பல நாடுகளுக்கு பயணம் செய்திருக்கிறார். ஐரோப்பா மற்றும் உலகில் உள்ள மற்ற நாடுகளில் உள்ள பெரும்பான்மயோர் ஸ்ரீ ஸ்ரீ அவர்களை பின்பற்றுகிறார்கள். அவர்கள் அவரை ஓர் அமைதி தூதுவராக காண்பதோடு மட்டுமல்லாமல் , அவர்கள் திருவிழாவில் காணும் எல்ல நல்ல விஷயங்களையும் இந்தியாவோடு தொடர்பு படுதுகொள்வார்கள். இது இந்தியாவை பற்றி தற்போது இருக்கும் கண்ணோட்டத்தை மாற்றி ஒரு நல்லவிதமான பெருமையை தரும் என்பது உறுதி.
